End-of-life work is sacred, practical, and deeply relational. Here’s how I came to it.

My Path to This Work

I’m Theresa, a death doula, tax advisor, and artist helping to guide folks navigating transitions, endings, and legacy work.

After over a decade working as a full-time filmmaker, I shifted my focus in 2020 to help other artists like myself understand, strategize, and file their taxes. Teaching people about our tax system feels like both my job and my activism— taxes affect everyone, yet most of us were never taught how the system works. I believe financial education is a right, not a privilege, and I’m committed to helping people feel less alone and more empowered in their financial lives.

My many experiences with loss throughout my life led me to serve my community long before completing my formal death doula training with Going with Grace in 2022. After losing my father suddenly in 2009 and having to wade through a sterile bureaucratic process while swimming in grief, I knew there must be a better way. Since then, I’ve woven together my knowledge of financial systems and the end-of-life process with deep compassion, offering steady, grounded support to those facing loss or legacy.

Whether you’re navigating a recent loss, preparing for the inevitable, or simply in need of support with your business planning, I’m here to help!

Why Eighth House

In traditional western astrology, the Eighth House is connected to death, grief, transformation, taxes, inheritance, legacy, and the unseen parts of life that often surface during major transitions.

It points us toward the reality that everything we know is temporary, and that there is strength in facing impermanence with honesty and care.

I chose the name Eighth House because this is the space where I work.

Whether that’s preparing for the end of life, moving through grief, or making sense of financial systems from one year to the next, these areas of life are deeply human and deeply connected.

Endings can often elicit fear, but as Emerson once wrote, “knowledge is the antidote to fear,” and I believe my realm of work is a testament to that.

Welcome to Eighth House, where knowledge lights the path and curiosity is key.
